EPISODE #30 | 9:30 AM, Monday, November 16, 2020
The power of partnerships during the COVID-19 pandemic
Guest: Casdell Singleton, executive director, Palmetto CAP

Join Palmetto Community Action Partnership Executive Director Casdell Singleton, popular radio host Terry Base, and Garcia Williams, executive director of The Medi, for a #COVID19 conversation as they discuss serving the economically underserved residents of the Charleston area.

Listen in below as they share the synergy that can result from partnering, from resource engagement to technology.

Charleston native and public school student Casdell Singleton attended St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, NC, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in accounting. He began a career in banking in Detroit and over the past 42 years went on to work in Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, and Charleston. He took the helm of Palmetto CAP in January 2020 after serving on its board of directors and spending 15 years as a banker with Synovus.

As the organization's executive director, he is continuing to fulfill its mission to serve the economically underserved residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties by promoting economic independence, through programs and partnerships, serving as a member of a national CAP network, helping people and saving lives. The pandemic has led him and his team to find new ways to serve them, including hosting asset building education and employment services via virtual platforms. Palmetto CAP's widely utilized utility bill and general emergency assistance programs have continued to serve thousands of households both virtually and through a series of drive-up events, while its weatherization department has revamped its safety procedures to continue serving residents in need of its energy conversation services.
