MEDI MONDAYS radio show
How social determinants of health are affecting under-served populations in our community, from the experts

EPISODE #35 | 9:30 AM, Monday, January 18, 2021
Community participatory research & the social determinants of health
Guest: Roger Clark, Community Research Advisory Council co-chair, John Hopkins

Join Roger Clark, co-chair of the Community Research Advisory Council to John Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, popular radio host Terry Base, and Garcia Williams, executive director of The Medi, for a conversation about the social determinants of health! On January 18, Roger will discuss community participatory research and how it can affect the social determinants of health—an apt subject for MLK Day.
During this discussion, Roger will answer questions like: what is community participatory research? What does he do as a co-chair and member of the Community Research Advisory Council to John Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research? Why is it important for the community to be engaged in research?
A top oncology account executive with CVS Specialty Pharmacy with more than 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical and specialty pharmacy account management and specialties in both the Patient Centered Medical Home model and multicultural markets, Roger also serves as the advisory board chair on The Medi’s board of directors and co-chair of the Community Research Advisory Council to John Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. He has been a member of the Council for 12 years. Last but not least, he is a member of the Cancer Advisory Group of Prince George’s County, and has served on the Healthcare Committee of Greater Baltimore.
His professional presentations include “Evaluating the Impact of Research Training for Community Advisory Boards” and “Community Based Participatory Research Training for Academic and Community Partners, each with four co-presenters, for the National Conference on Community Based Participatory Research in Bethesda, Maryland, in late 2013.

Roger holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Haven in Connecticut and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Bucknell University.
