EPISODE #39 | 9:30 AM Monday, February 15, 2021
The COVID-19 vaccine and the African American community: fact & fiction
Guest expert: Paula Orr, MD, founder of Charleston Women's Wellness Center

Join popular WJNI radio host Terry Base, The Medi's Garcia Williams, and Dr. Paula Orr, founder of a 20-year-old preventative and alternative health practice for women, for a conversation about the social determinants of health! On Monday morning, Dr. Orr will discuss the myths that are keeping some members of the Black community from obtaining COVID-19 vaccinations. She will also share updates from the COVID-19 task force formed under her leadership as president of the Charleston (SC) Chapter of The Links Incorporated and Garcia will share details of The Medi's virtual Red Dress Sundays events happening this month.

Honored by Essence magazine as one of its "gynecologists we love," Dr. Orr is passionate about her community's health as the physician and owner of Charleston’s Women’s Wellness Center and medical director for Charleston Health and Wellness Medi-Spa.

She also currently serves as president of the Charleston (SC) Chapter of The Links, Inc. and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.'s Charleston alumni chapter, the former president of Jack & Jill of America, and was the only woman and African American to serve on the MUSC Board of Trustees during her time on the board from 2002 to 2010. She has served on the boards of numerous other organizations and business and was recently honored with YWCA Greater Charleston's respected 2020 #WhatWomen Bring Healthcare award.
